NEW BLOOD

I have enlisted the talents of two very skilled young artist to help me with The TOMORROW  BLACK Production. I have had The World of TOMORROW BLACK in my life for about 15 years, and now that I have started to work on it in earnest, in my young 40's...lol...I have come to realize that if I am going to make my "Tolkien sized universe" successfully, I need some help. It was a matter of pride really, and I have swallowed mine. TOMORROW BLACK is a huge undertaking for one man, thus I have hired a Digital Sculptor and Digital/Traditional Artist to help me.

I will still be doing all of the detailed sculpting of course, but I am very slow, to speed up the process, I have decided to get some basic Body Blanks done. Here is a little peek at one of the Digitally Sculpted Males.

The new full color artwork of TOMORROW BLACK will be drawn in rough by me, then fully realized by my wonderfully talented new Digital/Traditional Painter. These new paintings  will be done later in the year, the piece featured here is a sample only, it is not a part of The TOMORROW BLACK Art that I will produce in 2013.

Now back to sculpting these Murghaste Warriors...

MONTHLY PROGRESS 2012

I have started the MONTHLY PROGRESS 2012 Page , let's see what happens...
I am really going to focus more on work this year. I had a goal of posting 13 Articles each month for the first year, and managed to pull it off...but there was less content than I would of liked.
This year WAR ART will contain Less Filler...and More Killer!

If it is a little quiet here it is because I am actually working, and not pissing around on the internet.

I have better things to do Brothers.

Upgrading The Emporium

My Little Brother David Rogers made some very nice and clean graphics for me last week for The BME.
Now that I have these shiney bits of Digital Metal, I am setting them up to use as New Boarders for all of the Product Images in The Emporium. I did a little more work on Happy too, since he now has a nice new spiked picture frame to live in...kinda fun.

Thank you Mr. Rogers!

HOOKAH EXPERIENCE PROJECT: Part 2 (Opening Night)

I have COMPLETED The HOOKAH EXPERIENCE MURAL...More or Less. It is done for now. So this is how it looked on Opening Night. (As always, if you click on the images they get bigger).

So there it is, after 1 day of planning, 1 day of drawing, 5 days of painting, and 2 days of inking. This is the first large scale work that I have done in many years, so I discovered that it is like breathing, you remember how to do it, even if you think you are out of practice, it comes right back...lol.

It was fun to hang out on Opening Night with friends, and see people enjoying the lounge.

Seated to my left is Charlie, the owner with his father directly across from me, and the big guy across from Charlie is my good friend Joe, who is the guy that more often than not takes me to the post office and takes pictures of my big happy dumb ass while out in the field on missions. Note the devilish grin on this cool old fellow...probably why we are friends.

Charlie and I have an agreement between friends that he will pay me monthly and that I will come back to do a little work on the slow days, to make this mural look even better. We waited until crunch time, because he had to get the wall done, and let it dry, so I did not start working until 2 weeks before opening date, but it got done enough to look okay...for now.

I took on this project to get my new computer paid off, and since I had to wait for my turn to come up in the que at IWM, I figured I may as well help a friend and make a little bit of extra loot, so it is all good I think.

I had fun, got paid, and got reacquainted with my very old friends, the brushes and the paint. Tis Coolio indeed.

BLOOP!

HOOKAH EXPERIENCE PROJECT: Part 1

I Have been working on a Full Wall Mural for a friend and local business owner who is expanding his company by opening a Hookah Lounge in his second location, which is just minutes from a bustling college.

I have been working on this mural since last week, while I wait for my people at Iron Wind Metals to get my Production Castings ready...

Here is a peek at the wall from a few days ago.

I will have a full preview of the entire painting in my next article.

Thank You October!

October and Autumn in general have always been good for me. This year I was finally able to start most of the preparations for opening BME, and sent my first models off for final Production on the 13th of October.

In late September I purchased my new computer, which arrived just last week. This sexy little machine will be a great tool for all of the work I want to do to publish my new art and books for TOMORROW BLACK. One major reason that I have been having problems with building the BME Site and getting content done to the level of quality I want, is that my old computer simply could not do what I needed it to do.

I was able to buy some very cool models this month too. I have wanted several of these for some time. The best models being the new HO Scale Subway Cars, and the wonderful little Sidley The Spy Plane, for one of my Forgotten Places Projects. Neither of these models had been available (in my area, or at all in the case of the subway) until Sept/Oct.

I am happy, it is my time of year, and I am just about ready to get back to work...

High Tech Wreck!

I have been really fucking annoyed by several little realities of setting up a website/store this year. The big issue was trying to do all of this work on a craptastic six or seven year old Dell with that impressive 512 slow ass poop butt.
No, I am not going to keep fighting things that are supposed to be FUN. I did something better than struggle on, I up-fucking-graded!
Here are the specs of  my new computer , which I just received this week.

Uhh...Wow?

I have this onyx baby set up now...kinda. It is going to be a lot of fun learning all about her.

I just might be able to write and illustrate a REAL Book or six and Produced TOMORROW BLACK  properly now.

Funeral services for my old computer will be held this Halloween.

The Power Of GIMP!

I have been using some low end art programs over the last few years. This was no big deal since I have been focusing on my sculpting. Now that I am gearing up to do The TOMORROW BLACK Core Rules, my first serious book, I have been thinking about what to buy for a new art program.

My old friend Dave Rogers told me about GIMP this week. GIMP is a free program designed to emulate Photo Shop.

I downloaded it the other day, and I'll be damned if it don't. I have a lot to figure out yet, but so far it is looking like I can save my money for Miniatures Production cost.

I might be able to improve my art a good bit now, with these new airbrush, and blending tools.

Wish me Luck gang!

TOMORROW BLACK COVER MOCKUP Previews

Hail Brothers of Sci-Horror!

I am starting to work on Cover Mock-ups now, 5 months away from release, so that I do not have to rush later...and try to put something together at the last minute. Please not that the Girl Concept is borrowed Lois Royo art, but I am thinking of doing a painting similar to it, so it works as a demonstration of concept. In my new painting there will be a huge ass monster behind the wall she is setting against. I am going to make the city look more Tech also I think...

I am probably going to do an all new painting for the cover, but the Dire will still be used, on the back cover I think. The NEW Logos are by my old friend David Rogers.

What do you think Brothers, are these decent, or do they suck?

MONSTERS: DEATH DIGGER Completed Sculpture Preview

"Tread the old soils of The Blackened Earth at your peril..."

The HTX-06 Compound has long been an air-born plague, but the Old Soil it ruined generations ago, still corrupts and mutates all life. Perhaps the most powerful of such beast are Death Diggers. Reports of entire Riggs being pulled down into the cold dirt, or even TECH Mechs have been documented by the few survivors of these Great Worms surprise attacks.

A Word On Design. The Death Digger's Maw Talons are sculpted separately for ease of casting.

Miniatures, Terrain, Rules, Storyline...What do you like best about our Hobby?

Bad Ass Bill at Good Ole TMP used one of my rambles for a recent TMP Poll.
This got me to thinking, something I do from time to time...
What do my Brothers here think about the core aspects of gaming? I am going to start my own little poll here so vote and comment, just for fun.

So considering the core or Tabletop Gaming: Miniatures, Terrain, Rules, and Storyline...What do you like best about our Hobby?

I think you need all four to have a great game, but if I had to put one aspect above the rest it would be The Miniatures, which is IMO The Art of the Hobby. Sure you can have a good game with cards, or dice, like in Poker or Yahtzee...but this ain't cards & dice.

Ultimately I want the BEST in all aspects of our little toy gaming lifestyle.

TOMORROW BLACK ART WIP Previews

I am starting to work on some  illustrations for The TOMORROW BLACK Core Guide Book.

So here is a look at some of my illustration work for a change.

Some of the Monsters have seen putty too, so for fun you can reference the art to the sculpture.

I am rusty yet. I have been sculpting more than drawing for the last year, but in the next six months I just might be able to make a decent looking world/rule book for all of my sculptures.
Maybe...lol.

Inspiration And Determination

Hello Brothers Of The One Five.

Some of you have asked me about what I am doing, for The World of TOMORROW BLACK.
Well, I can answer that simply, in part, by sharing with you some of the art that I have collected over the years.
Here is a little collage of a very few of the paintings I have in my Art Collection.

And one of my own paintings, from about a year ago.

I hope this posting gives you all some idea of what you can expect to see in 15MM Metal in 2011 and beyond.

Please know that I have a lot of Original Concepts of my own, and that I am not attempting to simply Copy any of the Art depicted in the Collage.

I am inspired by these works however, and I intend to pay respectful homage to the great artist which have have helped me grow in my own artistic endeavors over the years.

Note: If any of you are wondering why I have not shown more of my own Original Art in this posting, well...lol...that is becuase I am saving it to go into the Tomorrow Black RPG & Miniature Battles book.
